Diamond Copper Thermal Spreaders are made of diamond as the middle core which is sandwiched between the upper and lower layer of copper metal that are impregnated with synthetic diamond particles. Thermal conductivity of the composite material is not only much higher than the existing copper or aluminum thermal spreaders; its thermal expansion rate can be adjusted to the range that is close to that of semiconductor chip. The diamond copper thermal spreaders can be directly welded with semiconductor chips to avoid heat being blocked by the thermal grease. Energy demanding electronics using the diamond copper thermal spreaders can solve the problem of overheating.
